Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Officers stated they were contacted by a resident who found a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then located multiple other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.

City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for details.

A senior political figure commented the vandalism made him without words and required to be solved rapidly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
